African Pattern: African Pattern 01 & Style Name: African Pattern 02

African Patterns are an essential resource for anyone creating designs that must have that African look. Either gently rounded in shape, or with a stark African angularity they reflect the ethos of Africa. Each African Pattern font contains 52 different pattern units. These can be combined in a myriad of ways giving an almost unlimited number of patterns.

assegai-flag

Assegai:Assegai Regular

Named for the Zulu traditional spear, Assegai evokes the long, slim outline of the weapon, and the strength of the Zulu warrior. The font combines the irregular shapes of tribal African art with the simple, clean elegance of contemporary design.
It is especially useful for headings, subheading, for shorter passages and also works as a body font since it has both upper and lower case and is striking and readable.

black-tie-flag

Black Tie SCF: Black Tie SF Regular, Black Tie SF Baseline
Art-deco font with the smooth sophistication of retro design. It is very readable and can be used at all sizes. It functions well as a display font and creates attention-attracting headers and subheaders. Black Tie comes in two styles: 1. Black Tie Regular: in which the caps and lower case have different baselines. Black Tie Regular is better for sub-heads and display. 2. Black Tie Baseline: in which all characters share a common baseline. This style is better for body text and smaller sizes.Fully professional, Black Tie contains a full character set — Upper and Lower case, all numerals, punctuation, symbols and accented characters. It is suitable for layout work in all major European languages — Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Swedish and Italian (to name a few). The characters are spaced for readability and have been carefully kerned.

comic-scf-flag

Comic SCF & Round: Regular & Round

I was rather bored with the unimaginitive over-use of the "COMIC" fonts that come bundled with our computers. As a reaction I created this font, "Comic SCF" to produce a font that is original, legible, informal and yet professionally spaced and kerned.

excalibur-scf-flag

Excalibur SCF
named for Excalibur, King Arthur's Magic Sword. The font is derived from a note that Arthur hastily penned to his Queen, Guinevere, during a lull in one of his many battles against the Saxons. Arthur's armour was so hefty that he could not easily seat himself, and so to pen his letter to Guinevere he plunged his legendary sword Excalibur into the marshy soil on which he had been fighting and thereby steadied his writing hand with the hasp of his magical sword. This ancient and battle-weary font is based on the writing from a fragment of that original document. It has been heralded by modern scholars as "grunge" writing of great antiquity. To create a feeling of haste, of authentic ancient history, of magical times, of chivalry, of dragons and of brave battles fought.

fable-flag

Fable Antique & Fable Smooth
Fable is an elegant, hand-crafted typeface that evokes the magic of fantasy weddings, of castles and wizards, of dragons and dungeons. Among others it combines elements that are suggestive of Greek mythology, of runic scripts, of Scandinavian tales and of the stories of King Arthur. Difficult to categorise, Fable effectively combines features of uncial, calligraphic and script fonts.  It will enhance the appearance of advertisements, wedding invitations, headlines and posters. It contains a full character set and is professionally letter-spaced and kerned.

genevieve-flag

grunge-piazza-flag piazza-flag

Grunge Piazza Multipack
(Piazza Regular, Grunge Piazza Fuzz, Grunge Piazza Wobble)

Grunge Piazza Fuzz: Grunge Piazza Fuzz is based on the monumental font "Piazza".The characters have been "fuzzed".  This is a font with a great deal of detail and this detail shows up particularly well in print. (However, on screen, unless the font size is particularly large, it is not easy to appreciate the character of the font).

Grunge Piazza Wobble: Grunge Piazza Wobble is based on the monumental font "Piazza".The characters have been "fuzzed". The characters wobble this way and that, giving the font more movement in a random way. This is a font with a great deal of detail and this detail shows up particularly well in print. (However, on screen, unless the font size is particularly large, it is not easy to appreciate the character of the font).

Iliad-flag

Iliad
Iliad was designed to bridge the gap between traditional serif faces and modern humanist fonts. It uses a gentle, traditional, partial serif combined with a subtle curving of many of the "corners" in the characters. The combination of these two elements makes it decidedly contemporary yet it retains the readability that is associated with more traditional typefaces. The contemporary look is enhanced by a gentle tapering and shortening of the terminals and by less dramatic shifts in stroke width than is found in traditional typefaces. The lowering of the midline provides just a hint of "moderne". It has carefully crafted spacing and kerning, making it easy to use in any display setting. It also includes all punctuation, symbols, special characters and diacritical marks.

piazza-flag

Piazza Regular

Piazza is Italian for "square", and this font is big, square and heavy. It is readable and rugged and you don't talk back to it.  Piazza shows tight mechanical spacing giving it a precision impact. Corners have been subtly rounded to create a contemporary look without losing the massive impression. Use it for posters, signs, logos and adverts that need to make a clear and decisive impact.  Piazza has all upper and lower case characters, punctuation, and all special and accented characters. All characters have been letterspaced, kerned and the interline spacing has been carefully checked.

silver-dagger-flag

Silver Dagger

Siver Dagger is a contemporary script-inspired font that combines the elegance of graceful handwriting with clean, modern, incisive calligraphy. It will enhance the appearance of advertisements, invitations, headlines and posters. It contains a full character set and is professionally letter-spaced and kerned.

smart-casual-flag

Smart Casual Twopack (Smart Casual Baseline, Smart Casual Staggered)

To create that SMART impression without being too formal. It is based on the font "Black Tie" but it is less formal than "Black Tie". It conveys an impression of relaxed elegance without being either sloppy or too intimate. Smart Casual is ideal for invitations to stylish but relaxed events, for advertisements that are intended to create that special ambience, for posters and for announcements.  It comes in two styles: Baseline and Staggered. In "Baseline" all characters refer to the same baseline (the lower part of the characters are in line), while in "Staggered" the capitals are placed lower than the lower case characters, creating a slightly more dramatic, yet formal and retro look.

tabwa-flag

Tabwa

The design of the Tabwa font was inspired by the font "Neuland" designed by Rudolf Koch in 1923. Rather than attempting to re-create his font in a digital form as so many others have done, I have tried to capture the "spirit" of his font and merge this with the spirit of Africa. As a result the characters differ markedly from Koch's original styles and have much less of an "Art Deco" look to them. To further modernize the font I have included all the characters missing in Koch's original (a full lower case, as well as all punctuation, diacritics, special characters etc). The result is a thoroughly modern re-interpretation of the original "Neuland". The numbers (0 to 9) bear no relation to Koch's originals but, I believe, are far more in keeping with the alphabetic characters in the font.

The triangles that decorate the characters of this African font are typical of the patterns found in the Tabwa culture of central and west Africa (in the Congo region).

zest-flag

Zest Threepack (Zest Medium, Zest Bezel, Zest Drama)

Zest is an informal brush script drawn with quick, thick brush strokes. While it is based on everyday handwriting, the expansive and easy flow of the script hides the care that has been given to the crafting of each character. In style it harks back to the hey-day of American lettering and calligraphy, yet it has a looseness that is thoroughly modern. Zest comes in three styles: Zest-Medium, which is medium-weighted and appropriate to a wide range of applications; Zest-Drama,  and Zest Bezel. Zest is ideal for invitations to stylish but relaxed events, for advertisements that are intended to create a special ambience, for posters and for announcements.
