Nofret means "The Beautiful One" in ancient Egyptian. Designed by Gudrun Zapf von Hesse and released by the Berthold foundry in 1984, this typeface resembles her Diotima designs, created from 1948 to 1952. Nofret is based on the same calligraphic approach as Diotima but is narrower in response to modern design trends. It is delicate and beautifully balanced, with elegant capitals that lend grace and distinction to titles and headlines. The italics, set with generous line and letterspacing, could be considered for use as text faces themselves
