It has taken over three years to completely remaster the outlines for the Berthold BE versions for the PostScript Type 1 Mac and Windows platforms and release name compatible OpenType versions. Customers will have continued access to the Berthold BE versions both in PostScript Type 1 and now OpenType formats.
For the reasons stated below we now refer to the typefaces that were part of the Adobe Type Library as: Adobe related versions
PostScript Type 1 and OpenType versions
1) The Euro is now included in the PostScript Type 1 versions.
2) Design specific symbols are included.
3) Most ligatures are new.
4) Oldstyle currency symbols have been added to the small caps versions.
5) Accents have been corrected and some replaced.
6) The medium and medium weights in a family have been separated into their own menu. Previously they were style linked with the regular weight and this caused confusion to the users.
7) The original Adobe files had kerning usually only for English and German, this has now been expanded to included all Western European languages.
8) Because we added the Euro and updated the symbols the metrics are approximately 99% compatible with the original Adobe version. The basic character set should be metric-compatible.
