Mikadan

Mikadan is a tribute to Stephenson Blake’s Verona from 1948, which was in turn based on William Dana Orcutt’s Illumanistic from 1904. The sharp corners are bladelike in appearance to suit fantasy themes. Mikadan has some of the legible qualities of Morris Fuller Benton’s Motto from 1915.

Mikadan is available in OpenType, Mac PostScript and Windows TrueType format. Mikadan has accents for: Albanian, Catalan, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Icelandic, Italian, Norwegian, Spanish and Swedish. The OpenType and TrueType formats support Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Hungarian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Turkish, Ukranian and Welsh. The OpenType format includes class-based kerning, descending capitals, a dotted O and Q, old-style numerals and common f-ligatures. To access the descending capitals, use the stylistic alternates feature in your application*. To access the dotted O and Q, use the swashes feature. To access the long s, use the historical feature. The PostScript version doesn’t include any of the features listed above. The TrueType format includes these extra features but they can only be accessed one character at a time if your application has a symbols/glyphs tool.

*Automated OpenType features currently only work in Adobe CS products.
